Beginner’s Guide to Self-Care 2020

Self-Care is one of my favorite topics to venture upon. Self-care is one of the most essential activities to engage because it helps contribute to positivity and a prosper mental health. Self-care is a broad concept that generally invites, establishes and maintains compassion over our physical, emotional and mental health.

Establishing proper and daily self-care ensures that we are taking care of ourselves in order to help us succeed in our intra-personal relationship. It means, we answer to our needs in a way that protects our health and lifestyle by incorporating wellness nutrition, physical activity, relaxation, sleep, boundaries and social fulfillment to our life.  

I curated a list of all the things you may need to help you set up a wellness self-care adventure. These are the things I utilize on the daily that have helped me establish a healthy and wellness lifestyle.

Let’s start with Healthy Foods.

I am not a certified or accredited nutritionist. However, I have gained some knowledge into healthy foods that promote wellness and intuitive eating.

All the leafy dark greens.

All the berries. 

Nuts.

Healthy organic, non-gmo or grass feed meats or alternative protein.

Healthy Carbohydrates

There are so many blogs that offer a variation of recipes.  Cooking is so good for distraction, creativity and fulfillment. I always get good recipes from Minimalist Baker,  Loving it Vegan,  Against all the Grain. 

Bedroom Calmness 

Let’s move to your bedroom space. Your bedroom needs to exude calmness, warmth and relaxation. I use a diffuser, fluffy cute pillows, weighted blanket and candles to set the mood for optimal sleep.  

  • Saje for diffusers and blends.
  • Luxome weighted blanket.

Also, I am adding bath time as a form of self-care. If you have a long day or giving yourself a nice quiet long morning, taking a bath can help you calm your senses. Enjoy relaxation through water, soap and Epsom salts.

I curated an extra list of self-care activities to fulfill and bring calmness 

  • Physical: yoga, meditation, walking or running,
  • Calming: reading, mandala coloring book, puzzles or knitting.
  • Distraction: mantra wellness magazines or lifestyle magazines

Skincare Regimen

And I saved the best for last. I love indulging in my skincare regimen. I strongly believe that caring for your skin and health brings a sense of peace, relaxation and abundance. Self-Care and prioritizing our needs is an essential part of our overall wellness. Prioritizing our needs is essential for physical calmness, emotional regulation and fulfilling relationships. It is definitely okay and normal to take time aside from our day to answer to you.
