Acne Wash

clean-skin

Many of us have a basic routine that consist of cleansing, toning and moisturizing.  For those of us who have always struggled with problematic skin such as acne, we understand that we need a strict regimen.

We may be using all the right skin materials and exceptional name brand sources.  And without knowing, we may be using a towel which is causing us more harm than good.  Results may stall giving us a false sense of hope.  We still have active acne and oily-skin.  The online reviews get us hyped up and hopeful for major change while the skincare experts are giving us a run down on the amazing effects of such product.  Then, as we follow the steps for months, we feel “meh,” And there goes our shattered hopes.  What a waste of money!

We take a shower, we rinse our body with a towel and without realizing it, we also wipe our face with that same towel.  Seems typical, unharmful and a normal routine since a towels purpose is to absorb the excess water.  Seems logical.  If we suffer from problematic skin, we might need to reconsider this method.  After all, we are cleaning our face with a towel that is gathering excess bacteria from our body essentially from our underarms, legs and reproductive organs and storing it in the towel while also collecting moisture from the hot air and implementing the left over bacteria into our face. Yikes!

Such usage can also trigger skin irritation because pulling of the skin. And even worse, it transfers bacteria residue from our body to our face.  It is hard to imagine that a towel can cause any skin damage.

Cloths have been a skin game changer.  After I cleanse my face, I only tap my face to remove excess water. But I don’t wipe all the water off since it will pull my causing some tightness. I discovered that leaving my skin a bit damp and applying moisturizer works well in balancing my skin.

Retaining water helps our skin to preserve water and moisture. Even though, we have oily skin, it will help our skin feel hydrated and our oil production will stay at minimum (because it signals our oil glands that we have sufficient).  It will help reduce the production of sebum throughout the day, as oily skin tends to overproduce due to not enough moisture, so our skin over compensates with more sebum.  *Sigh* So complicated!

I am currently using a washcloth from Pai Skincare

Here are other beautiful cloths that are highly protective of our skin:
