Sorrento

travel-guide-to-sorrento

Nestled in the hills of a rustic coastline. 2.4 km away from the town of Amalfi, there lies the coastal town of Sorrento. Just located in the Bay of Naples featuring encompassing views of the Sorrentine Peninsula. Sorrento is built over the coast ravine. A town that delivers cliff hanging views with a conveying a relaxed atmosphere.

Sorrento is filled with various upscale dining options. Explore and discover the many flavoring dishes along Piazza Tasso and Corso Italia, which are the main walkway center. Not only does the town offer savoring dishes but also gelatos, wine bars, leather good shops, and charming stylish boutiques, and of course the famous Lemoncello.

Sorrento is a charming town that delivers both touristic hot spots and at the same time it’s a quintessential peaceful village. To experience the Italian commodity, use a vespa and experience embodying their lifestyle. The communication and interaction among Italians exuberates tranquility yet connectedness since the atmosphere appears slow paced with a touch of energetic ambiance.

Be adventurous and explore other parts of Sorrento. Take a walk away from Piazza Tasso and you will find other rustic villages, lemon groves, juice stands, antique shops, family-owned restaurants and if you are lucky, you can catch performers in cafes.

I stayed in Hotel Crawford, in the nearby town of Sant’ Angello, which was 1.9km from Sorrento. There, I explored so many cute family-owned restaurants, made temporary friends with a bar owner that we frequented and enjoyed a relaxing time hanging out by the Sant’ Angello Cathedral. As there is a small plaza with a few adjacent restaurants.

In Sorrento, you can sunbathing with a cocktail in hand admiring the crystalized ocean in a privatize beach. Sorrento does not include free public beach access. Staying in a hotel with beach accessibility is a must.

Here are some amazing hotels with beach access:

If your hotel does not have beach access, you can also gain admissions by going to a hotel/restaurant and purchasing their food and drinks in order to gain a glamorous lounge chair and enjoy the relaxation that Sorrento offers.

Yet, there are a few ways to sneak in to a free beach.

Go on over to Marina Piccola, which is a small port that offers a quiet beach vibe. It is located just beneath Villa Comunale.  You may need to purchase loungers and umbrellas. Or you can take your own towels, chairs, food and enjoy your own feast.

Marina Grande is an even lesser crowded beach. It is a fishing town so predictably their seafood dishes are amazing. Spend some time here and enjoy the volcanic sand beach views

Puolo beach is also known to as Pignatella. This is the towns people beach. If you want to interact with the locals, this is the beach for you. It is 2km from Sorrento and it is a local’s hangout spot. Yet, you can also access a private beach Blumare Beach Club.

Have you vacationed in Sorrento? Is it a place you would like to visit?
