Cancun

cancun

I kicked off the end of my summer vacation in a resort while in Cancun, Mexico.  I was looking for a scene in where I could emerge myself in an already known culture and friendly environment. I was craving some Mexican flavor, cuisine and ambience.

The Royal Sands Resort offered so much from breakfast buffet, amazing pool views, beach access, lounging and fine diverse dining. Day one and two included lounging by the pool with a book and a margarita in hand. I spend hours going from the lounge chair and onto the pool. It so relaxing and I felt so free. Not a worry in the world surfaced my mind.

Here, I spend time reflecting on my life back in Los Angeles, and how I wanted to change the way I was living. I wanted to begin to embrace my actual needs and career desires. I knew it was time to make some scary changes.  This was the time to seclude and reflect on my life choices. The tranquility of the beach that really helped cleared my mind and helped me understand what was really important, which for me was prioritizing self-care, authentic friendships and a career move.

Exploring Cancun was one of best experience I have endured. The resort that you decide can help set up your experiences to see Chichen Itza in the Mayan ruins, snorkeling, parasailing, and visiting Isla de Mujeres.  Isla de Mujeres is filled with so much ocean grandeur. It is home to a magnificent crystal blue ocean, beaming with tranquility, filled with beautiful coral reefs and sea animal creatures.  Isla de Mujeres is beautiful and gentle and it is the perfect mini getaway from the Cancun lifestyle. If your resort does not manage activities or tours check out Cancun Passion.

You must also leave the resort in order to experience authentic food. While the resorts provide amazing food, street tacos are accessible outside of the resorts.  I feasted on some authentic tacos and salsa at Taco y Tequila.

Coco Bongo is a nightclub right in the epicenter of Cancun. Embrace the experience and enjoy a night out with friends and see the live performers, the DJ spinning and personify the energy surrounding the crowd. It feels electric and energetic. And follow the night by getting tacos.

Another good thing is transportation in Cancun. There is a bus that directly runs up and down the hotel zone. You can hop on and hop right off and explore the beach town, visit souvenir shops, stop by the mall and venture out to other restaurants!

Have you been to Cancun? Which resort would you love to stay?
